//Submissions
The Alternator solicits proposals for themed residencies by visiting artists once a year, pending availability of project funding. Submissions are reviewed by a selection committee composed of gallery staff and board members.
The following submission package is required:
• A brief description (maximum 250 words) clearly outlining the exhibition you are proposing
• Artist statement - maximum 500 words
• Curriculum vitae
• 10-20 slides with name and title. Video artists may submit a video no longer than 5 minutes
• Slide list detailing medium and size
• Self addressed, sufficiently stamped envelope
Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
If sending digital images, please submit them in jpeg format on a CD compatible with Macintosh operating systems. Applications submitted by e-mail are not accepted. As the selection process includes consideration of proposals by a committee and the Alternator does not own a laptop computer, it is a good idea to include prints with your submission that can be passed between committee members during the jurying process.
Selections are based on:
• Compatibility with the Alternator's mandate and the theme of the residency
• Quality of the proposal
• Quality of work submitted by the artist
• Availability of space and resources
• Potential for successful engagement with the community
Deadline: April 15.

//Floor Plan
Visiting artist projects are based in Studio 111 on the main floor of the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Visiting artists have full usage of the studio between 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. most days and can access media equipment in the Alternator Media Arts Centre, which is housed in the studio.
Outdoor access to a loading dock in the parking area is provided by a large garage door. The studio is a working space but certain walls are suitable for the exhibition of work. One moveable wall creates a small storage area for gallery materials at the rear of the studio.
All activities in the studio must be compatible with media centre operations and work that creates large amounts of dust is not permitted. Processes involving toxic fumes must be completed outside the building.
