This fun and funky adult event is not a fashion show in the traditional sense - it's an artistic exploration of all types of body adornment.

March 3, 2007 //The 2007 Wearable Art Gala
![]()
Things were hopping at the Rotary Centre for the Arts on March 3 as some 50 artists participated in the fourth annual Wearable Art Gala before the event's largest audience yet. This year's wearables included everything from a licorice-tassled dress and a skirt decorated with tampons to outfits made entirely from playing cards. It was the first time the show was held in the Mary Irwin Theatre. But the theatre couldn't contain all the enthusiasm - artists paraded through the entire centre, performed in glass cases and spilled out onto the lawn for fire poi performances. Cool sound was provided by DJ Marvinduey in the atrium, JGirl and Manousos in the theatre, and a team of mobile sound-can spinners who entertained during intermission. Special thanks to emcee Phil Johnson whose sonorous tones graced the event for the second year in a row. UBC Okanagan professors Renay Egami and Byron Johnston and their first-year students were back again, assisted by an incredible team of volunteers, led seamlessly by UBC practicum student David Markin. Thank you everyone! ![]()
